Material:
- The GI strips are made from fully galvanized iron.
- The galvanized iron strips must conform to IS: 2629 (1966) standards.

Galvanizing:
- The zinc coating on the GI strips should not be less than 610 grams per square meter of the galvanized surface area.
- The weight of the zinc coating is determined as per the method stipulated in IS: 2633 (1972).
- The galvanizing process ensures corrosion resistance and durability.

Dimensions:
- The standard length of the Galvanized Iron Earthing Strip should be a minimum of 3 meters and not exceeding 10 meters.
- The width of the strip is 20-100 mm, and the thickness is 3 mm, 6mm
- The hot-dip galvanized zinc coating should be 80-100 microns.

- The average weight of the GI strip (without coating) should be as per size.
- The density of steel used for calculation is 7.85 gm/cm³.
- These specifications align with IS 1730 (1989).

- All tests must be performed in the presence of an inspecting authority appointed by the purchaser.
- The results of each test must be recorded in the presence of the inspecting authority.
